EL CENTRO NACIONAL DE ACELERADORES (CNA) in Seville inaugurated as new IAEA Collaborating Center
The Agency has included CNA in its network of Collaborating Centers for a four-year period (2010-2014), due to the Laboratories' outstanding research activities in accelerator-based analytical techniques. During this period, the two organizations will work on a common project with focus on "Accelerator-based analytical techniques for the study of long-lived radionuclides in marine samples" in order to provide Member States with state-of-the-art accelerator-based science.
The inaugural ceremony was held in Seville the 29th of June 2010 where the IAEA representative, Ms Maria Betti, Director of the IAEA-Environment Laboratories, together with Mr Joaquín Luque, Rector of the University of Seville, uncovered the IAEA Collaborating Center plaque. This ceremony was also attended by the Director of CNA, Mr Joaquín Gómez Camacho and the Vice Director, Mr Rafael García-Tenorio, by the Research Vice Rector of the University of Seville, Mr Manuel García León, and by representatives of the Regional Government of Andalucía.
The inaugural ceremony was complemented with two conferences: the first one given by Ms Maria Betti presenting the composition, structure, research lines and objectives of the IAEA Environment Laboratories, and the second one given by Mr Rafael García-Tenorio presenting the main research lines associated with the common project agreed between IAEA-Environment Laboratories and CNA.
