The 13th INIS/ETDE Joint Technical Committee Meeting

Member State delegates from the IEA's Energy Technology Data Exchange (ETDE) and from the IAEA/International Nuclear Information System (INIS) met in a biannual, two day meeting to discuss and strengthen their successful collaboration. Twelve countries participated in the 13th INIS/ETDE Joint Technical Committee (JTC) Meeting: Austria, Brazil, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, the Republic of Korea, Norway, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland and the USA. The JTC Meeting, held on 20-21 October, was preceded by the 22nd ETDE Technical Working Group Meeting, in which INIS took part as an observer.

The JTC Meeting expressed great appreciation of the work and direction of current INIS activities. It also adopted 27 Actions and Recommendations, which represent important guidelines for INIS and ETDE cooperation as well as the direction for the next two years.

Significant technical cooperation between ETDE and INIS has enabled member countries to take advantage of a common direction for both systems. The joint development of standards and procedures as well as the assurance of data integrity and quality has been an important factor in the success of both information systems.

Cooperation between the IAEA/INIS and the ETDE is based on the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 1994, which provides the framework for technical cooperation and operating arrangements between both parties.
