INIS as Part of a Knowledge Organization Course
Information services, in general, and digital repositories, in particular, are instrumental to knowledge management, as they form the fundamentals of knowledge organization through structured information, as well as enabling discovery and retrieval.
This is reflected in the new student course taught through the Library and Information Science Programme at Linnaeus University in Sweden. INIS will be taught as part of the first student course in Knowledge Organization: Information Seeking and Retrieval. The course is available both on campus for full-time students, and as a distance learning course for those who study part-time. In total, 80 students per calendar year will be taking this course and learning about advanced search interfaces with the support of controlled subject terms, such as those provided by INIS.
