The 13th INIS/ETDE Joint Technical Committee Meeting
24 October 2011 - Member State delegates from the IEA's Energy Technology Data Exchange (ETDE) and IAEA/International Nuclear Information System (INIS) met last week in a biannual, two day meeting to discuss and strengthen their successful collaboration. The 13th INIS/ETDE Joint Technical Committee (JTC) Meeting, held from 20 to 21 October was preceded by the 22nd ETDE Technical Working Group Meeting, in which INIS took part as an observer.
The JTC Meeting expressed great appreciation of the work and direction of current INIS activities. It also adopted 27 Actions and Recommendations, which represent great guidelines for our cooperation and direction for the following two years.
Technical cooperation between ETDE and INIS has been significant, enabling some member countries to take advantage of a common direction for both systems. The joint development of standards and procedures as well as assurance of data integrity and quality has been an important factor in the success of both information systems.
12 countries participated in the JTC Meeting: Russia, USA, France, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria, Finland, Germany, Denmark, Brazil and the Republic of Korea.
Cooperation between IAEA/INIS and ETDE is based on the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 1994. The Memorandum gives the framework for technical cooperation and operating arrangements between the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), represented by the International Nuclear Information System (INIS) Secretariat, and the IEA Energy Technology Data Exchange (ETDE) represented by its Operating Agent.
