New INIS Collection Search

18 April 2011 – INIS is pleased to announce a new web search interface for its document Collection. Over 3.3 million bibliographic records and more than 280,000 full-text non-conventional documents are now fully indexed and searchable on the Internet using Google-based technology. The implementation of the INIS Collection Search interface follows the recommendation of the 35th ILO meeting to have the Google Search Appliance the underlining search technology for the entire INIS collection.

The INIS Collection Search increases the speed of searching and downloading, supports multilingual queries and the standard search interface. It also introduces a new advanced search feature which brings the following key benefits:

  • Support for searches by metadata fields such as Abstract, Author, Country, Descriptors, Language and Title
  • Support for Boolean searches with the use of OR/AND/NOT operators to build queries
  • Dynamic management of complex queries: Possibility to build/manage complex queries easily by adding/removing conditions dynamically. Moreover, a query performed using Standard Search interface is broken down into subset queries in the advanced search interface. The user can then choose to remove/add conditions
  • Possible integration with other systems: Any query built by the advanced search interface can be applied directly (copy/paste or typing in) in any external widget to achieve the same search results

Detailed information on the utilization of the new web interface is available in the INIS Collection Search Help file. For assistance or inquiries please use the Contact Us form.
