Webinar Series on Nuclear Technology Breakthroughs for the 21st Century

The webinar series supports IAEA Member States in learning about how current and future sustainable nuclear energy systems can help countries to meet both growing energy demand and climate change goals in an integrated and risk-informed way that takes into consideration advances in other energy technologies as well as developments in society at large. The webinar series consists of six parts:

Part 1: Integrated Energy Systems for Electricity Production and Beyond

The use of current and future nuclear power technologies, such as Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), for cogeneration and integration of nuclear and renewable sources, is among the most innovative solutions for a stable and balanced energy supply under consideration worldwide. Such technologies can help to expand the supply of low carbon energy through a variety of applications, including water desalination, hydrogen production, district heating or cooling, the extraction of tertiary oil resources, and process heat applications.

Part 2: Disruptive Trends in Nuclear Technology

This part will draw on lessons learned during the COVID-19 pandemic to cast a fresh light on how nuclear power can be accepted as a foundation for climate change mitigation. It will also explore the role of digital technologies, Artificial Intelligence and integrated nuclear simulation techniques in nuclear science and engineering.
