How the atom contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is the focus of this year’s IAEA Scientific Forum. A year after the adoption of the SDGs, leading experts and academics will meet in Vienna, Austria, from 28 to 29 September on the sidelines of the IAEA General Conference to review how nuclear science and technology can assist countries in achieving the ambitious targets set out by the global community.

The two-day event, Nuclear Technology for the Sustainable Development Goalsis open to the media and will be streamed live from the opening, set to start at 09.30 CET on 28 September 2016. The Scientific Forum will take place in Board Room D of the C-Building of the Vienna International Centre (VIC).

  • Session 5 Partnerships for Progress: Transferring Nuclear Science and Technology examines how to sustainably transfer nuclear science and technology for peaceful uses, addressing effective partnerships, international cooperation, and human resources among others.

The Forum will conclude with a wrap-up session with IAEA Director General Amano.
