Visits Organized in Conjunction with the 66th General Conference

To register for organized visits, interested delegates should follow the instructions provided for each visit. Kindly note that participation is not open to media representatives.

Tour of the Incident and Emergency Centre

The IAEA’s Incident and Emergency Centre (IEC) is the global focal point for international preparedness for and response to nuclear or radiological emergencies. The tour will provide the participants with an overview of the IEC’s response roles and emergency preparedness and response tools.

Tuesday, 27, Wednesday, 28 and Thursday, 29 September from 1.00 p.m. to 2.00 p.m.

Delegations wishing to receive further information about this event should go to the Nuclear Safety and Security exhibition booth outside Plenary Hall on M01, M building, first floor.

Owing to space constraints, a maximum of 12 visitors will be able to participate in each tour.

The assembly point is the Information Desk at the entrance to the M building from where participants will be picked up on the respective day at 12.50 p.m.

Tour of the IAEA Radiation Safety Technical Services Laboratory

The tour will showcase the IAEA Radiation Safety Technical Services Laboratory, which provides monitoring services to 3000 occupationally exposed workers annually for external and internal radiation exposure. The services are critical to IAEA activities globally. Support services also include training, consultation and loan of survey equipment.

Tours will be offered on Tuesday, 27, Wednesday, 28 and Thursday 29 September 2022. from 12.00 noon to 1.00 p.m.

Virtual Tour of the IAEA's Safeguards Analytical Laboratories

Join this virtual tour to see how the IAEA analyses nuclear material and environmental samples to help verify that States are honouring their international nuclear non-proliferation commitments.

  • Environmental Sampling: Virtual Tour of the IAEA’s Environmental Sampling Laboratory, this event will be held on Wednesday, 28 September 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. via a WebEx event
  • Nuclear Material Sampling: Virtual Tour of the IAEA’s Nuclear Material Laboratory, this event will be held on Thursday, 29 September 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. via a WebEx event

 

Tour of the IAEA Isotope Hydrology Laboratory

Visitors to the IAEA Isotope Hydrology Laboratory will hear about the analytical support it provides to the Agency’s water resources programme, training for scientists from Member States and quality assurance services to isotope hydrology laboratories worldwide. The laboratory also develops hydrology laboratory instruments for transfer to Member States.

A visit will be offered on Wednesday, 28 September 2022, from 2.00 p.m. to 3.00 p.m.

Advance registration is required via email by 12 noon on Tuesday, 27 September 2022, to the IAEA Isotope Hydrology Laboratory, stating first and family name, affiliation, delegation and telephone number.

The assembly point is the Information Desk at the entrance to the M building from where participants will be picked up on the respective day at 1.50 p.m.

Safeguards Equipment Insight: Non-Destructive Assay, Surveillance, Unattended Monitoring, Seals and Containment

During this tour of the Safeguards equipment laboratories, visitors can learn more about the verification equipment that supports the IAEA's verification mission, including non-destructive assay equipment; surveillance and unattended monitoring capabilities; and the seals and containment applied to nuclear material.

Prior registration for all tours is required in advance. To register for Safeguards Equipment Insight please send an email, stating first and family name, affiliation, delegation and telephone number.

The assembly point is the Information Desk at the entrance to the M building from where participants will be picked up on Wednesday, 28 September at 2.05 p.m.

Tour of the IAEA’s Nuclear Applications Laboratories in Seibersdorf

Visitors to the IAEA’s nuclear applications laboratories in Seibersdorf will see how the eight laboratories support Member States in the peaceful application of nuclear and nuclear-related techniques for development and environmental protection in areas such as food and agriculture, medical dosimetry, terrestrial environment and nuclear instrumentation.

The tour will be offered on Thursday, 29 September 2022, from 9.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m.

Advance registration is required via email by 12.00 noon on Tuesday, 27 September 2022, stating first and family name, affiliation, delegation and telephone number.

Confirmed participants should meet at the Information Desk at the entrance to the M building at 8.50 a.m. on Thursday, 29 September. Buses will take visitors from the VIC to Seibersdorf and return four hours later. Due to space constraints, a maximum of 40 visitors can be accommodated.

Safeguards Asset Management and Monitoring Equipment for Radiation

During this tour of the Safeguards equipment laboratories, visitors can learn about the safeguards equipment used by IAEA safeguards inspectors; from the preparation of equipment to be taken into the field, via the shipment of the equipment, to its return to IAEA Headquarters.
