Russia-IAEA Nuclear Energy Management School for Managers in Nuclear Organizations 2018

This comprehensive one-week training programme is devoted to building leadership competencies essential to supporting nuclear infrastructure development in countries embarking on or expanding national nuclear power programmes. The School is aimed at providing mid-level managers in the nuclear industry and governments of IAEA Member States with broad understanding of key issues and challenges associated with peaceful uses of nuclear technology.

The School programme offers expert lectures focused on the fundamentals of nuclear energy, nuclear power technologies, nuclear fuel cycle, nuclear safety, nuclear security, nuclear safeguards, radiation control and public acceptance. Participants will learn about the economics of nuclear power, energy policy and energy planning, legal aspects, knowledge management, human resource management and stakeholder involvement. They will also have an opportunity to visit Nuclear Power Plant and training facilities.

The NEM School consists of two sessions and convene in two different venue:

  • The session in Sochi, from 14 to 15 May 2018, is organized in conjunction with the ATOMEXPO 2018 International Forum, one of the largest internationally recognized venues focusing on important issues facing the nuclear industry.
  • The session in St. Petersburg, from 16 to 18 May 2018, takes part in St. Petersburg and incorporates a technical tour to Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant-2 site, which is at the final stage of its commissioning.

The Russia-IAEA Nuclear Energy Management School is organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in cooperation with the State Atomic Energy Corporation “Rosatom” through its Rosatom Technical Academy (Rosatom Tech).
