The 2020 Russia-IAEA Advanced Nuclear Energy Management School is hosted by the Government of the Russian Federation through the Rosatom Technical Academy.

The Advanced Nuclear Energy Management School programme is a one-week learning event designed to build and enhance leadership and management competencies essential to supporting nuclear infrastructure development in countries considering, embarking on or expanding national nuclear power programmes.

The School is intended for senior-level leaders, managers and decision-makers working in the nuclear sector or entering the nuclear sector.

In particular, the objectives of the school are:

  • To provide senior leaders and managers in the nuclear sector with knowledge and understanding of some of the key issues and challenges associated with the management and leadership of nuclear energy programmes;
  • To support leaders and managers working in the nuclear sector or entering the nuclear sector in building and enhancing their managerial and leadership competencies essential for establishing, expanding and managing national nuclear energy programmes;
  • To provide participants with a broad international perspective coupled with the IAEA’s specific knowledge on specialist topic areas;
  • To provide an opportunity for networking with fellow leaders and managers of nuclear energy programmes worldwide.

Participants will be made aware and engage in discussions associated with:

  • Nuclear Infrastructure Development
  • Workforce Planning for Nuclear Organizations
  • Nuclear Safety and Security
  • Management and Leadership in a Nuclear Organization
  • Safety Culture
  • The Concept of Risk and Risk Communication in Nuclear Sector
  • Stakeholders’ Involvement and Public Communication for Nuclear Technology.

The school will include presentations sessions, panel discussions and case studies during which participants will have the opportunity to discuss the topics with the IAEA and other nuclear industry experts and share information on their experience, national practices and challenges in the area of developing, expanding and managing national nuclear programmes.

Nominations from invited Member States must be submitted to the IAEA through official channels.
