Nuclear Power and the Clean Energy Transition

A Scientific Forum on Nuclear Power and the Clean Energy Transition will take place from 22-23 September 2020 at the Vienna International Centre (VIC) in Board Room D, C building, 4th floor. The Forum is being held in conjunction with the General Conference.

Physical attendance in the Scientific Forum will be limited to one delegate per each Member State, UN Specialized Agencies, IGOs and NGOs.
Registration of that person has to be done using Participation Form (Form A) dispatched together with the Note Verbale.
Form A needs to be returned to the IAEA via email by 11 September 2020 in order to secure a seat in the meeting room.
Other persons can attend the Scientific Forum virtually by registering online (and by completing Personal Data, Address Block and Contact Information): they will shortly before the event receive an access code to the IAEA Conference App which will allow them to view and access information and to ask questions.
Persons who want to follow the presentations without actively participating in the Forum can do so via the livelink button which will be available on this web page.

Innovations in Nuclear Tech: Fighting the Climate Crisis
The world faces a growing demand for energy at the same time as it needs to tackle the realities of climate change. For climate change goals to be met by 2050, 90 per cent of electricity will need to be produced by low carbon sources. Nuclear power currently provides one third of all low carbon electricity. Arrangements for GC(64) in view of COVID-19 restrictions
Following a series of Member States' consultations conducted by the IAEA Secretariat on the arrangements for the 64th regular session of the General Conference, Member States have agreed on arrangements so that the General Conference can pursue its work in the current circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic. The arrangements provide the framework for the conduct of the General Conference and are accessible here.
