Proceedings of a symposium organized by the IAEA and hosted by the Korea Electric Power Corporation on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Korea, in co-operation with the CEC, the European Nuclear Society, the Korea Atomic Industrial Forum, the Korean Nuclear Society, the OECD/NEA and the World Energy Council, Seoul, 18-22 October 1993. The purpose of the symposium was to provide a forum for discussions on the need for nuclear power, on the features of advanced nuclear power systems and their design objectives and safety approaches, taking into consideration the views of regulatory bodies, on identifying barriers to the deployment of these systems, and on reviewing options for international co-operation.
