Technical Meeting on Building a National Position on a New Nuclear Power Programme
Launching a nuclear power programme is a major undertaking that requires careful planning, preparation and investment. A decision to embark on a nuclear power programme should be based upon a national position, itself partially founded on sound energy planning. It is important to build a sustainable national position that will maintain the country's commitment to nuclear power over the long term, regardless of changes in government.
The IAEA has developed a draft document that will serve as a guide for governments seeking to establish a strong national position on the introduction of nuclear power. The primary objective of the meeting is to present and discuss the draft document, and receive feedback from Member States to be taken into account in the final version. The draft document will be shared with participants prior to the meeting.
