Confirmatory methods are designed to confirm the identity of the residue and its concentration. Since confirmatory data be used to make the decision on follow-up action, the confidence in the results generated must be high. These methods must not give false positive results. Confirmatory methods include techniques such as spectroscopy and mass spectrometry.
