Planning the programme takes into account all available information such as pharmacokinetic, residue, metabolic and toxicity data, slaughter throughput figures and information on use and abuse of veterinary medicines. In order to fulfil their duties, the Analysts must understand the national and international regulations and the impact of these regulations on the application of analytical methodologies available to them. On their part, the Veterinarians and Regulators must understand capabilities of analytical methodologies.
