DDG-TC official visit to Chile

Kwaku Aning, Deputy Director General (DDG) paid an official visit to Chile on 22 – 23 August 2013. During his trip, the DDG visited a number of partner institutions with whom the IAEA works under its technical cooperation (TC) programme.<br>The DDG visits the La Reina Nuclear Center and meets with the President of the Commission as well as the Board of Directors. <br>The DDG visits the Laboratory of Criminalistics of the Investigation Police. Under a TC project, the IAEA works with the laboratory to help build capacities in the application of nuclear techniques in the environmental crimes investigation, e.g. establishing the origin of the sources of heavy metal pollutants. <br>The DDG pays a technical visit to the Arturo López Pérez Foundation Cancer Diagnostics and Treatment Center. Through a national TC project, the IAEA helps to upgrade and strengthen the skills and capabilities of human resources at this center.<br>The DDG meets with authorities at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.<br>The DDG pays a technical visit to the facilities of the Agricultural and Cattle Service. Through a TC project, the IAEA helps to strengthen and expand the analytical capabilities at these facilities through the development and application of high resolution analytical methods for confirmatory analysis of residues, metabolites and contaminates in agricultural products for human consumption. <br>The DDG meets with authorities at the Ministry of Energy.<br>
