Guatemala Signs Country Programme Framework for 2011-2017

European Regional Decommissioning Project Ends with Record Implementation Amid Acclaim from Participants
22 December 2011 | Over the past three years, the IAEA Regional Project for Decommissioning Planning in Europe (RER3009) has delivered more than 40 training events to over 300 participants. The Project benefited from direct assistance of countries with developed decommissioning programmes. The final meeting was held in mid-December at the IAEA. Read more »

World Nuclear University offers a School on Radiation Technologies for Young Professionals: applications are now open for the 2012 programme
21 October 2011 | The WNU School on Radiation Technologies (RT School) will be held 13 May – 1 June 2012 at Kyeryong Spatel, Daejeon, Republic of Korea. Applications to WNU School on Radiation Technologies are now being accepted by the WNU. All interested applicants must apply directly to the WNU no later than 28 October 2011 using the application form on the WNU website. Read more »

Improving Regulatory Documents on Radiation Safety through a series of IAEA Schools
13 September 2011 |  Throughout May, the IAEA hosted a School for Drafting Regulations on Radiation Safety, which successfully came to a close at the end of the month. The event was a fruitful occasion in which the participants were able to share experience and knowledge in drafting and revising regulatory documents on radiation safety and security matters in accordance with IAEA requirements. Reducing the effects of Harmful Algal Blooms in El Salvador
10 June 2011 |  El Salvador has a coastline of over 300 km. It is lapped by prime fishing waters, which support a diverse marine life. The sea, however, is often struck by red tides, more correctly known as Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs). These are dangerous not only to the marine ecosystem, but also to human health. Project meeting held in the Dominican Republic on ensuring seafood safety
31 March 2011 |  Under TC project RLA/5/054, "Ensuring Seafood Safety in Latin America and the Caribbean through a Regional Programme for the Biomonitoring of Contaminants in Molluscs and Fish (ARCAL CIII)", an intermediate coordination meeting took place from 14 to 17 March 2011 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Participating in World Cancer Day: The IAEA’s technical cooperation programme
14 February 2011 |  A small exhibition on the IAEA’s technical cooperation programme was held to mark World Cancer Day on 7 February 2011. The exhibition, which shared stories about technical cooperation projects that address cancer, was one of a number of activities organized at the Vienna International Centre (VIC) to raise awareness of the cancer epidemic in developing countries.
