Institutes and Networks

Institute of Nuclear Materials Management (INMM)

Mission Statement (Adapted from the INMM Bylaws)

The Institute of Nuclear Materials Management was formed in 1958 to encourage:

  • The advancement of nuclear materials management in all its aspects;
  • The promotion of research in the field of nuclear materials management;
  • The establishment of standards, consistent with existing professional norms;
  • The improvement of the qualifications of those engaged in nuclear materials management and safeguards through high standards of professional ethics, education, and attainments, and the recognition of those who meet such standards;
  • The increase and dissemination of information through meetings, professional contacts, reports, papers, discussions, and publications.

European Safeguards Research and Development Association (ESARDA)

Objective

ESARDA's main objective is to assist the European safeguards community with the advancement of safeguards, enhancing the efficiency of systems and measures, as well as investigating how new techniques can be developed and implemented. We also strive to fulfil an educational role and to reach the general public and, in particular, those interested in safeguards.

Women in Nuclear (WiN), IAEA Chapter

Women in Nuclear (WiN) is a global organisation which supports and encourages women working in nuclear sciences and applications throughout the world. WiN aims to promote the understanding and public awareness of the benefits of nuclear and radiation applications through a series of active networks, both national and international. WiN currently has almost 3000 members in 77 countries. The WiN IAEA Chapter is a network for women working at the IAEA, enabling them to exchange knowledge and experience towards advancing their role in the nuclear field.

International Network of Emerging Nuclear Specialists (INENS)

The main aim of the network is to provide emerging nuclear specialists with an international forum to discuss key issues which this age group feel would be of importance in 15 to 20 years. INENS was founded after the 2010 NPT Review Conference in New York as a result of discussions amongst the junior diplomats, researchers and academics that realised that there was a gap in the field in the context of a global knowledge exchange and information sharing programme between emerging nuclear specialists in entry to mid-level positions. INENS was thus founded to bring together emerging specialists from various strands of the nuclear field, including legal, political, scientific, technical, advocacy and academic amongst other areas. The membership is open to anyone aged between 23 and 35, with a demonstrable interest to pursue a career in the field.
