NAFA Programmes

  The Programme of the Joint FAO/IAEA Division is organized into five Technical Sections supported by corresponding Laboratory Units that work under the technical and scientific direction of the Director of the Joint FAO/IAEA Division. Overall guidance is provided by the FAO Assistant Director General, Agriculture Department, and the IAEA Deputy Director General, Department of Nuclear Sciences and Applications.
It covers isotope and radiation applications in the following areas that in IAEA are sub-Programmes within Programme E: Food and Agriculture:


 

  In FAO, the Programme is known as Programme 2.1.5: Agricultural Applications of Isotopes and Biotechnology and it has three sub-Programmes:

  • Contribution to Improvient of Crop and Livestock Productivity (2.1.5.1)
    This covers the work of IAEA sub-Programmes E1 and E2 plus the animal production component of E3.
  • Contribution to Crop Protection and Control of Animal Diseases (2.1.5.2)
    This covers the work of E4 and the animal health component of E3.
  • Contribution to Consumer and Environmental Protection and Reduction in Food Losses (2.1.5.3). This covers the work of E5.
