Jorge Hendrichs
obtained a B.Sc. in Agriculture from the Monterrey Institute of Technology, Mexico and Cornell University, USA in 1978, a M.Sc. in Entomology from the University of Florida, USA in 1986 and a Ph.D. in Entomology from the University of Massachussetts, USA in 1991. He served on the team that initiated the USDA-Mexico Mediterranean fruit fly SIT Program in Southern Mexico and in 1981 was promoted to program director. In 1991 he joined the Entomology Unit of the FAO/IAEA Agriculture and Biotechnology Laboratory in Seibersdorf, and since 1994 has been Head of the Joint Division's Insect & Pest Control Section.
