TERRASTAT is a desktop application including a collection of datasets at global level produced jointly with other FAO divisions and distributed on CD-Rom. The main subjects are: (a) major
soil constraints (hydromorphy, low CEC, aluminium toxicity), (b) major soil constraints (Vertic properties, high P fixation, salinity), (c) major soil constraints (sodicity, shallowness, erosion risk), (d)
extent of soils without major constraints, deserts and dryland areas, (e) population distribution in deserts and dryland areas, (f) steep lands, (g) land degradation severity, (h) human-induced land
degradation due to agricultural activities, (i) land degradation severity and population distribution and (j) actual and potential available arable land.
