| IAEA Projects in Radiation and Waste Safety
Radiological Assessments The IAEA has organised a variety of international radiological
assessments related to Radiation and Waste Safety to evaluate the radiological situations
in different locations. Additional information on the background to assessments on the
Bikini Atoll, on the atolls of Mururoa and Fangataufa, Semipalatinsk Test Site and the
International Arctic Seas Assessment can be found on the page devoted to 'Conduct of Assessments and Evaluations'.
Other Major Projects: Consequences
of the Chernobyl Accident The 'Model Project on Upgrading Radiation and Waste Safety Infrastructures' in a number of Member States. The aim of this global Technical Co-operation Project, first approved in December 1993, is to assist a number of selected Member States with an inadequate radiation and waste safety infrastructure to enhance and strengthen this so that it complies with standards established by the Agency for protection against ionizing radiation and for the safety of radiation sources.
