Report on Iran & IAEA Cooperation Sent to Agency Board

IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei has circulated a report to the Agency´s Board of Governors on cooperation between Iran and the IAEA in light of UN Security Council Resolution 1737. The report was circulated under restricted cover 9 February.

The 35-member Board will consider the report at its next meetings beginning in Vienna 5 March. The report´s circulation is restricted and unless the IAEA Board decides otherwise it cannot be released to the public.

UN Security Council Resolution 1737 was adopted 23 December 2006. At that time, Dr. ElBaradei said the Agency will implement the relevant parts of the UNSC resolution that relates to its work.

In addition to the 9 February report, the Director General is expected to soon circulate a separate report to the Board on the implementation of the NPT safeguards agreement in Iran.
