Director General Amano, while receiving the notification from the Indian Resident Representative, Rajiva Misra, congratulated India on this important development and stated that this step by India, also contributed to the Agency's intensified efforts to encourage more Member States to sign and ratify the Additional Protocol.

Resident Representative Rajiva Misra in his remarks stated that the Additional Protocol between India and the IAEA further strengthened confidence and trust between India and the Agency and was a positive outcome for both.

India's AP includes provisions of the Model Additional Protocol to which India has agreed. These relate to the submission of certain information; the designation of, and visas for, inspectors; and communications systems.
