The annual meeting of the IAEA´s Technical Assistance and Cooperation Committee (TACC) is due to convene on Monday, 19 November 2007 at the IAEA Boardroom, Vienna International Centre.

During the three-day gathering, delegates are expected to consider, inter alia, three additional projects to the Agency´s Technical Cooperation Programme, the 2008 budget for the Programme, and the 2008 target for voluntary contributions to the Technical Cooperation Fund.

Developed jointly by the Secretariat and the Member States, the IAEA´s Technical Cooperation Programme helps transfer nuclear and related technologies for peaceful uses to countries throughout the world. The TACC meeting will be followed by the IAEA Board of Governors due to start on Thursday, 22 November 2007. The Agency´s Technical Cooperation projects, current safeguards implementation issues and a report by the Director General that lays out options for addressing the current deficiencies of the IAEA´s Laboratory in Seibersdorf are among the topics the Board is expected to discuss.

Director General Mohamed ElBaradei will open the meeting of the 35-nation Board of Governors with an introductory statement.
