World leaders are meeting on 24-25 March 2014 in the Netherlands for the third Nuclear Security Summit. The event, which is the world's largest summit in the nuclear security field, first took place in 2010 in Washington DC. In The Hague, Heads of State and Government will meet to chart their accomplishments of the past four years and future directions. The IAEA has been active in the nuclear security field for nearly three decades and is attending the summit as an observer. The IAEA Division of Nuclear Security assists States in their national efforts to protect their nuclear facilities from terrorist attacks or acts of sabotage and to prevent nuclear and other radioactive materials from being lost, stolen and sold. The Director, Khammar Mrabit, discusses the work of the Division.
