A team of IAEA experts is visiting South Africa at the invitation of the Government to exchange views on the lessons learned from an incident on 8 November 2007, when armed men broke into the Pelindaba nuclear facility of the South African Nuclear Energy Corporation (NECSA).
In issuing the invitation at the November meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors, South Africa said that the exchange could also benefit other IAEA Member States in the "implementation of their nuclear security policies and the improvement of relevant guidelines".
