29, Thursday. IAEA Board Convenes Meeting. The IAEA Board of Governors convened its final meeting of the year. The 35-nation Board will discuss various issues, including the Implementation of the NPT Safeguards Agreement in the Syrian Arab Republic. Director General Yukiya Amano opened the meeting with a statement. He also briefed the media following the opening of the Board meeting. 17, Monday. IAEA Director General Reviews Priorities. At the opening of the 56th IAEA General Conference, IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano addressed the participants and reviewed the IAEA's activities and achievements of the previous twelve months. 15, Thursday. September Board of Governors' Meeting Concludes. During its meeting, The Board also discussed important issues relating to the application of IAEA safeguards in the Middle East and, in this context, welcomed the Director General's invitation to convene a Forum on experiences relevant to the creation of a nuclear-weapons-free-zone in the Middle East to be held in Vienna from 21 to 22 November 2011.
