5, Monday. Board of Governors Opens March Deliberations. The IAEA Board of Governors started its meeting at the Agency's headquarters to discuss the IAEA's work on nuclear verification, safety, security and the peaceful use of nuclear technologies. Director General Yukiya Amano opened the meeting with a statement. He also briefed the media following the opening of the Board meeting. In his statement at the Press Conference he addressed some of the most pressing issues to the nuclear community. The 35-nation IAEA Board of Governors will convene for their deliberations from 12-16 September 2011, which precede the annual General Conference to be held from 19-23 September 2011. 6, Monday. Board of Governors Convenes. IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano opened the Board of Governors meeting in Vienna, Austria by addressing IAEA activities related to a range of issues, including the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear accident, nuclear applications and nuclear safeguards.
