The Hungarian Nuclear Society was founded on 29 May 1990, and became a member of the European Nuclear Society in 1991. The Hungarian Nuclear Society considers its public utility tasks as consisting of development of nuclear culture and promotion of peaceful use of nuclear technologies to ensure that they are utilized with due skills and responsibilities in a controlled manner; hence these methods do not jeopardize the human health and living conditions, but rather improve it. The society works for advancing that the new opportunities revealed by nuclear research contribute to the protection of the environment and the improvement of level of living to a greater extent.
