European Pressurized Water Reactor (EPR) (more info) goto TOP
The EPR development project, conducted as a French-German cooperation in conjunction with Framatome ANP as well as EDF and German electric utilities, gathers together all of the know-how and experience previously gained with German and French pressurized water reactors.

SWR 1000 (Framatome ANP) (more info) goto TOP
The SWR 1000 project - which is being conducted under a contract from the German electric utilities in cooperation with other European countries - represents an entirely different approach. The main feature of this new design is the use of passive systems for the control of accidents and transients. Activation and operation of these safety systems is based entirely on the laws of nature. Furthermore, additional use of systems and components that have already proven their reliability in service will ensure that positive experience gained from past operation will be fully incorporated in the new design concept. This will enable system simplifications to be implemented that will result in competitive power generating costs, even for the medium-capacity unit of 1000 MW.

  Research Reactors and Neutron Sources
European Spallation Source (ESS) (more info) goto TOP
ESS consists of a proton linear accelerator (Linac), that accelerates negatively charged Hydrogen ions to 91% of the speed of light. When this beam of high energy particles exit the linear accelerator it is either directed straight at the long pulse target station and converted into a long pulsed of neutrons (2 millisecond) or send through a set of compressor rings.

E.ON Energy (more info) goto TOP
Munich-based E.ON Energie is one of Europe's largest private electricity, gas, and water utilities. The E.ON Energie Group comprises 80 companies.

E.ON Energie owns both conventional and nuclear power plants as well as power plants which are based on renewable energy sources both in Germany and abroad. Their combined capacity is approx. 34,000 MW. In Germany, three independent subsidiaries are engaged in conventional power generation (about 15,000 MW), nuclear power generation (around 7,500 MW) and hydropower generation (roughly 2,800 MW). Our Swedish subsidiary, Sydkraft, operates power stations with a total capacity of approx. 6,200 MW. The Dutch subsidiary, E.ON Benelux Generation, operates power stations with a total capacity of approx. 1,800 MW.
