Abstract

The water ingress in the core of an undermoderated high temperature gas-cooled reactor can yield to a safety risk. This paper contains investigations to test the applicability of the reactor program GAMTEREX for criticality and neutron flux determination of water infiltrated pebble bed cores. In order to judge precalculated reactivity worths and reaction rates, critical experiments were performed in a pebble bed cell using the ringcore of the Siemens Argonaut Reactor Graz as a driver.
