Abstract
The main results of the investigations on the development of
spherical particles fuel for fuel elements of HTGR are
described. Typical characteristics of UO2 spherical particles
(size, shape, density, microstructure etc.) and PyC and SiC
protective layers (thickness, density, fission product release
etc.) are presented. Sol-gel technique and slip casting are used
for spheroidization. Deposition of protective layers is carried
out in the fluidized bed apparatus
