Conference Article: Storage and final disposal of spent HTR fuel in the Federal Republic of Germany

Abstract

Current HTGR designs in the Federal Republic of Germany are based on low-enriched uranium fuel. The paper describes various aspects of this fuel cycle including spent fuel treatment and technical concepts for intermediate storage and final disposal. In addition the status of related research and development programmes is presented.
