Abstract

This paper is part of a series of publications aimed to provide the scientific community with a complete description of the Cold Finger Device (in German KÜFA). The KÜFA-device has been designed to test under loss-of-coolant accident conditions, the quality of fuel elements based on coated particles for High Temperature Reactors (HTR). A general description of the equipment has been provided in a previous paper. In the present paper, the cooling system, the temperature control, the sweep gas system and the calibration procedures are described in detail.
