This publication provides the report of a one-day IAEA consultants’ meeting hosted by the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) in Tsuruga, Japan on 11 May 2007. The objective of the consultants’ meeting was to start preparation of the IAEA Coordinated Research Project (CRP) on "Benchmark Analyses of Sodium Natural Convection in the Upper Plenum of the MONJU Reactor Vessel". The Scientific Secretary of IAEA’s TWG-FR (Technical Working Group on Fats Reactors) presented the rationale for the CRP and its implementation plan. JAEA presented the experimental and analytical work already performed in the area of interest to the CRP. The experts representing the Member States interested in participating in the CRP presented their experience and expectations from the CRP. Finally, a preliminary work plan was established, thus providing a head-start for the kick-off Research Coordination Meeting (RCM) that is tentatively scheduled for September 2008. |
