This publication provides the report of the kick-off Research Coordination Meeting (RCM) of the IAEA Coordinated Research Project (CRP) on "Analyses of, and Lessons Learned from the Operational Experience with Fast Reactor Equipment and Systems", held IAEA Headquarters, Vienna, 23 – 26 April 2007.

The specific objectives of this CRP are to

  • Preserve the feedback from commissioning, operation, and decommissioning experience of experimental and power sodium cooled fast reactors
  • Enable easy access to the information from this feedback
  • Produce lessons-learned/synthesis reports from the commissioning, operation, and decommissioning of experimental and power sodium cooled fast reactors.

The objectives of the kick-off RCM were to

      • Discuss the formation of teams from the different participating Member States for each of the CRP areas (Steam Generators, fuels, and structural materials)
      • Discuss possible choices for principal coordinators for all the CRP areas (Steam Generators, fuels, and structural materials)
      • Develop and agree on the list of main tasks of the CRP
      • Produce the work plan of the CRP
      • Define the date and venue of the next RCM
