Conference Article: Calculation of the PEC test by the SALCON code

Kobayashi, T. (Toshiba Corp., Yokohama (Japan))

Abstract

One of the PEC test was calculated by SAXON code to compare the calculation results with the experimental data as well as other analysis codes as a part of the IAEA/IWGFR/CRP on inter comparison of LMFBR seismic analysis codes. At first, features of SALCON code to minimize the computation time are described and then calculation model and condition are explained. As for the calculation result, the calculated displacements generally agreed well with the experimental data. The choice of 4% for the fraction of critical damping was found to be appropriate after evaluating the effect of damping. A reduction of dynamic freedom by Guyan reduction were found to be effective to minimized the computation time while maintaining reasonable accuracy.
