The aim of the Reference Technology Data Base (RTDB) is to provide harmonized information on technical and economic characteristics and environmental aspects of technologies for generating electricity. RTDB contains generic data on technical, economic, and emissions parameters of technologies for electricity generation that use fossil fuels, nuclear power, and renewable energy sources for electricity generation. RTDB includes also descriptions and data for control technologies for reducing emissions into atmosphere from electricity generation. RTDB provides quantitative and qualitative data on electricity generation technologies. At present, the database contains data for about 350 technologies, characterized according to their level of maturity (e.g., matured, commercially deployed, demonstration stage, etc.). The database is continuously updated by IAEA to reflect the changes of the technologies related to electricity generation.
The information is given in numerical, textual and pictorial form in order to allow user to obtain a comprehensive overview of information on technologies presently marked and proven and on those technologies expected for commercial application in the future.
This compilation of energy and environment related indicators and statistical data has been assembled from open sources that are available on the Internet. The materials are presented as a courtesy to anybody who needs to get a quick and comprehensive overview in this area. We can not make any claims concerning the correctness of these data since we are not affiliated with the data originators. Where available, several sources are quoted for comparison.
