Opening of the access to the INIS Database on the Internet

3 April, 2009 - We are pleased to announce that access to INIS database has been now opened to all Internet users around the world. Free, open and unrestricted access is available from the INIS Homepage, or directly from the following link: INIS Database.

This initiative provides easy access to reliable nuclear information on the peaceful uses of nuclear science and technology, including nonconventional literature, and makes nuclear knowledge readily available worldwide.

Established in 1970, INIS represents the world’s largest database of scientific and technical literature on a wide range of subjects from nuclear engineering, safeguards and non-proliferation to applications in agriculture, health and industry.

Currently, the INIS Database contains over 3 million bibliographic records and almost 200,000 full-text nonconventional documents, consisting of scientific and technical reports and other non copyrighted information.

INIS Database on CD-ROM

• Bibliographic citations included in the INIS Database are also available on CD-ROM. The INIS Database on CD-ROM contains records from 1970 to the present and is updated monthly. The full set consists of eleven (11) archival discs covering 1970 through 2007 and a current disc starting in January 2008.


• The INIS Database on CD-ROM is produced by the International Atomic Energy Agency and SilverPlatter Information Inc., and uses SPIRS Retrieval Software. SPIRS allows searching for any word or phrase in the entire Database.

Products & Prices

Exact prices for your country/organization are available from INIS Liaison Officers or distributing agents in your country.

The INIS Liaison Officers, have the exclusive right to disseminate INIS products within their countries or organizational confines (in the case of international organizations). They may delegate the responsibility for the distribution and sale of the products in their countries/international organizations. Accordingly, the INIS Database on CD-ROM is distributed either by the Liaison Officer, a distributing agent or by the INIS Secretariat.
