| The Institute of Plasma Physics (INFIP) is sponsored by the Argentinen National Science Council (CONICET) and the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA). It is devoted to basic research work in fusion related topics, space and astrophysical plasmas, plasma technology, and fluid mechanics. Two small plasma focus experiments and two pulsed plasma coating experiments are carried out, supported by theoretical and computational physics work. INFIP participates also in a national research program on dense plasmas (PIPAD) together with several Universities and National Agencies. This program sponsors the construction of a large Plasma Focus facility for technological research. The institute is also active in several theoretical problems of plasma instabilities, plasma waves interaction, turbulence, and viscous flows. It cooperates with scientists of Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (Brazil), Lebedev Physical Institute (Russia), Soltan Institute for Nuclear Studies (Poland), Università degli Studi di Ferrara (Italy), University of New Hampshire (USA), Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Spain), NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies (NY, USA), IFAS and PLADEMA of Argentina among others. |
