KASAM, the Swedish National Council for Nuclear Waste - established in 1985 - is an independent committee attached to the Ministry of the Environment. KASAM’s mandate is to study issues relating to nuclear waste and the decommissioning of nuclear installations and to advise the government and certain authorities on these issues.
