INIS Non-conventional literature (NCL)

An outstanding feature of INIS is the easy access to the full text of non-conventional - NCL or
grey literature.

What is NCL ?

Literature reported to INIS Database falls into two categories, conventional and non-conventional :

Availability

NCL on CD-ROM (from 1997 onwards)
 Document Delivery (ad hoc orders)

NCL on CD-ROM (from 1997 onwards)

The full text documents reported in INIS Atomindex Volume/Update 28/01 (1997) and onwards are available on CD-ROMs. The CD-ROMs can be purchased on a subscription basis for € 40 per disc. Each CD-ROM contains approximately 150 Reports. The number of CD-ROMs produced in one year depends on the volume of input from INIS Centres. The total number of CD-ROMs produced from 1997 to the present is 312 CDs.

Each CD-ROM comes with retrieval software in both English and French. The documents are arranged by Reference Number (RN) or Report Number (RP) as listed in the INIS Atomindex or the INIS Database. Each CD-ROM is serialized by the first and last RN. Results of a query on the INIS Database on CD-ROM can be linked to the NCL CD-ROMs for rapid viewing of the full text.

Document Delivery (ad hoc orders)

Copies of individual documents found in the INIS NCL collection can be ordered from the INIS & NKM Section or from some of the National INIS Centres. Currently, INIS has arrangements with 60 INIS National Centres to provide document delivery services to users within their national boundaries. All requests for individual reports produced since 1997 (beginning with Volume 28) are referred to these Centres if they exist in the country of the requester.

Requesters in countries where no such service is available, and requests for reports published prior to 1997, can be referred to the INIS & NKM Section.

The following document delivery service is offered:

Electronic delivery (Adobe Acrobat PDF format)

All reports published after 1997 are available electronically in Acrobat PDF format. Some reports published prior to 1997 can also be delivered electronically depending on the size of the report or analytic requested. Contact us for details.
