INIS Regional Cooperation Meeting in Moscow
23 October 2013 - In cooperation with the National Research Nuclear University NRNU MEPhI, the Russian INIS Centre, and the INIS Secretariat, a meeting on the Role of the International Nuclear Information System (INIS) in Supporting Nuclear Education and Industry: Regional Cooperation and Knowledge preservation is being held in Moscow from 22 to 24 October. Over 40 participants from nuclear research institutes and universities, along with representatives from the Commonwealth of Independent States, are attending this event.
The opening speech was delivered through a recorded video message by Mr Bychkov, Deputy Director General of the Department of Nuclear Energy at the IAEA. Presentations included an introduction to INIS and its main products and services, with proposals for regional cooperation on major nuclear accidents, as well as possible coverage of major nuclear information sources that existed in the former Soviet Union prior to the establishment of INIS. There was also a detailed demonstration of the INIS Collection Search with its main features, as well as a presentation on the future of nuclear information prepared by Mr Savic, Section Head of the Nuclear Information Section (NIS) at the IAEA. A presentation on the tools for coordinating the Nuclear Education Resources in Rosatom's basic universities association was made by NRNU MEPHI, and another one was made on the actual tasks of JSC VNIIAES in nuclear technologies information support. Ms Atieh, Head of the INIS Unit, and Mr Pistillo, Acting Group Leader of the Systems Development and Support Group, are attending this event.
