INIS Collection Search: Integration with INIS Multilingual Thesaurus

29 March 2012 - Further improvements have been made to the INIS Collection Search and a new version of the web interface is now available.

The following features have been introduced:

  • INIS Multilingual Thesaurus. The existing integration with the INIS/ETDE English Thesaurus has been extended to the INIS Multilingual Thesaurus. In the Advanced Search, users can now choose INIS descriptors from seven different languages - Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Russian and Spanish. When a descriptor is selected, the respective word block appears, offering other associated terms (related, narrow, broader, etc.) from which the user can choose. When selecting a non-English descriptor in the Advanced Search, the equivalent English term from the Thesaurus is shown and will be used in the query.
  • Full integration with INIS authorities: subject categories, journals and report prefixes. The three remaining INIS authorities have been integrated with the INIS Collection Search, through a similar mechanism already implemented in the Advanced Search for INIS countries and languages.
  • Enhanced multilingual user interface. The INIS Collection Search web interface can also now be viewed in Japanese. The help file is now available in Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Russian and Spanish.
  • Improved usability, security and reporting. Registered users can now select the starting date when running their saved queries to obtain updated results. More robust security architecture has been developed against distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks. Further integration with Google Analytics was made, resulting in improved reporting capability.

More information on using new features is available in the INIS Collection Search Help.
