Abstract

X-ray micro-Tomography (XRµT) has been applied to study the microstructure of nuclear graphite. This technique enables non-destructive investigation and measurement of porosity both before and after irradiation. It also provides a means with which to contrast graphite’s microstructure and measure the relative volume of each phase. It is intended that this work will lead to the development of better porosity models for irradiated nuclear graphite.
