Conference Article: The Monitoring System of The PCU For The 10MW High Temperature Gas-Cooled Reactor
Zhjengang Shi, Meisheng Zha, Hong Peng, Lei Shi, Lei Zhao, Institute of Nuclear and New Energy Technology, Beijing, CHINAAbstract
High Temperature Gas-cooled Reactor (HTR) is recognized as an advanced type of reactor incorporating many design enhancements such as inherent safety features, fuel cycle flexibility, highly fuel utilization, highly efficient electricity generation and process heat application. The 72 hours full power operation of the 10 MW High Temperature Gas-cooled Reactor (HTR-10) has reached in 2003. In order to advance the HTR-10 performance, the project of the Helium Gas Turbine Generator for the HTR-10 was authorized by the State Science & Technology Commission, and started in 2003. In this project the power conversion unit (PCU) in which a helium gas turbine, a generator and some thermodynamic devices are assembled will replace the system of the helium fan and evaporator. In order to accommodate the HTR condition and predigest the assistant system the active magnetic bearings (AMB) are used to support the turbo-machine rotor and the generator rotor. The monitoring system based on the virtual instruments is designed to monitor the working conditions of the PCU, and to ensure its normal operation. This system acquires the various operation parameters of the helium gas turbine and the generator, and deal with them in time domain, frequency domain and joint time-frequency domain. This monitoring system is of the strong capacities in data-processing and various data presentation ways. This paper focuses on the design characteristics of the monitoring system for the HTR-10GT and introduction of the related series of experiments to demonstrate the system functions for active magnetic bearings, which is one of the most important part of the HTR-10GT project.
