Conference Article: European Programme On HTR Fuel Technology
Mayeul Phélip, and contributions from each HTR-F&F1 partner, CEA Cadarache, St. Paul Lez Durance, FRANCEAbstract
The European R&D projects, HTR-F and HTR-F1, are part of the 5th Framework Programme and concern the qualification of the TRISO coated particle at high burn-up. It involves a mastering of the fuel fabrication technology, the testing at high burn-up of existing HTR fuels, the understanding of the fuel behaviour and recovering past experience on fuel irradiation behaviour in Europe. The HTR-F&F1 R&D projects are three years projects and started on October 2000 and December 2001 respectively. The total allocated budget for the two projects is 5 million Euros (50% funded by the EC) to be shared between 7 partners involved in these projects. These partners are issued from industry and research centres taking part in HTR development : CEA, FZ Jülich, JRC/IE, JRC/ITU, BNFL, Framatome ANP and NRG. The results from the HTR-F&F1 R&D projects are presented in this paper, along with the fuel programme foreseen within the FP6 V/HTR Integrated Project.
