Conference Article: Influence of the yaw angle on heat transfer and pressure drop of helical type heat exchangers
Groehn, H.G. (Institut fuer Reaktorbauelemente, Kernforschungsanlage Juelich GmbH, Juelich (Germany))Abstract
The influence of the flow angle phi between the tube axis and the flow direction on heat transfer and pressure drop has been studied at 15 deg. ≤ phi ≤ 90 deg. (cross flow). The Reynolds number was varied in the range 2.103 ≤ Re ≤ 105. Experimental data are given for a number of tube banks of straight tubes as well as a helical type heat exchanger with a large thread pitch of the tubes.
