Conference Article: Seismic analysis for PEC fast reactor core experiments using the SAFA program
Horiuchi, T.; Motomiya, T. (Hitachi Ltd., Tokyo (Japan))Abstract
As a part of the IAEA/IWGFR coordinated research program on LMFBR seismic analysis codes, the results of the PEC fast reactor core experiments conducted by Italy were analyzed and the experimental and computational results were compared. The computer program named SAFA developed by Hitachi, Ltd. to analyze core component vibration of fast breeder reactor core components during seismic excitation, was applied for the bench mark calculation. The SAFA models subassemblies as finite element method beam elements. Fluid interaction force is considered as added mass and time integration is done using mode superposition and the method proposed by Nigam. Load pad impact is modeled using a gap, a linear spring, and a linear damper. It also uses a new method to determine the nonlinear impact force without usage of convergence iteration. The comparison of the experimental and calculational results showed a good agreement in displacement and acceleration records.
